May 2020

The primary focus of Irongate Family Practice will always be your health and the health of our community. We want to thank you for reading our many messages and listening to the guidance we have put in place to keep our patients healthy during these unprecedented times. We are closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 (the 2019 novel coronavirus) and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) and local public health authorities (https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home) to keep you safe. We want to offer reassurance as we navigate this crisis together and move forward. We’re in this together, even if 6 feet apart.

If you are experiencing a serious respiratory illness with fever, cough, and shortness of breath, please call your primary care physician’s office. Be sure to tell them if you have been in contact with someone with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19. Your provider will give you instructions on whether or not you should come into the office, and how you can be tested for COVID-19.

On May 18th, we will resume seeing patients in our office. We will be screening all patients upon arrival, as well as over the phone prior to your appointment, to assess for possibility of infections. All patients will be required to wear a mask, and we ask that you limit who accompanies you to your visit as much as possible.

Irongate Family Practice offers the IgG Antibody Test which, measures a particular class of antibody (IgG) directed against the COVID-19 virus. Rather than showing if you are currently infected with COVID-19, this antibody test may indicate if you have had COVID-19 in the past and have since developed antibodies. This test is available to patients at Irongate Family Practice through our lab. Please contact your providers nurse as you will need an order for the test.

We realize this is a challenging time for everyone and appreciate your patience. We want to recognize all of the essential workers in our community, especially our staff, and offer our thanks for all that they do.
